On a small scale Oceanwide produces a Totallly Enclosed Lifeboat (TELB). This type of boat is frequently used for Offshore operations (drilling rigs), on tankers and freight vessels. The TELB’s comply with the latest amendments to SOLAS 1974. The boat has self-righting capabilities, are restistant to extreme heat and give the optimal safety under the most challenging conditions.
The hull and interior are made of hand-laminated GRP with fire retardant resins and integrated buoyancy tanks filled with polyurethane foam. The boats are provided with hinged windows fore and aft, while side windows in the helmsman’s steering dome offer panoramic visibility.
The boat can be equipped with an external water spray system. Together with a compressed air installation this system allows the crew to sail in burning sea situations for at least 10 minutes. The boat’s overpressure prevents the ingress of toxic fumes or gas. Over- and underpressure safety valves are installed in the boat.
The TELB special has an open aft deck area with a second steering position, giving the helmsman an un-obstructed view and making this boat excellent for recovering people from the water during rescue operations.
The TELB is available is different sizes and the capacity can vary from 8 to 80 persons.
